The island of Maui is the second largest island (1883 km²) of the Hawaiian islands.
It is home to Maui County, which also includes Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the islet of Molokini.
Geographically, the island welcomes two large volcanoes, one to the west (the mountains of western Maui until Pu’u Kukui) and Haleakalā to the east, the larger and more active of the two.
Between these two volcanoes lies an outstanding and fertile isthmus, with the towns of Kahului and Wailuku to the north and Maalaea and Kihei to the south, followed by Lahaina to the west and Hana to the east.
The main activities of the island of Maui include tourism and agriculture, especially the cultivation of sugar cane and pineapples.
But Maui is very famous worldwide especially for the practice of various water sports .
When we say Hawaii, we actually mean surfing and in Maui you have the opportunity to visit the Ho’okipa Beach Park , which is one of the most famous Hawaiian surfing sites.
Other popular areas crowded by many fans of this discipline, include Slaughterhouse Beach, Honolua Bay, Pe’ahi and Fleming Beach.
But that’s not all, in fact we must add that snorkeling is also one of the most popular activities on the island, thanks to the many beaches and bays where you can practice safely; also windsurfing, practiced at Kanaha Beach Park, which since the early 80s has been recognized as an ideal place to test equipment and at the same time to promote this sport.
Finally, in Maui kitesurfing is also practiced, a much more recent activity than the previous ones, which since 2008 has been spreading rapidly throughout the world, thanks, above all, to enthusiasts of different levels, who always meet in large numbers at the Kanaha Beach Park. to participate in shows and various competitions .
