The seasonality of Arugam Bay is especially recommended in the months of July and August, each year surfers return to experience the thrilling waves and relatively isolated beaches. Southeast Coast: Listed as one of the ten best surf spots in the world, Arugam Bay is also known as Abay, and features several locations including Ullah Point, Pottuvil Point, Surf Point, Peanut Farm Point and Crocodile Rock. Arugam Bay is suitable for surf beginners; Pottuvil Point located on a deserted beach north of Arugam Bay is best suitable for experienced surfers; while Crocodile Rock is another challenging surf spot south of Arugam Bay, waves up to 5 – 6 feet and up to 400 meters long and relatively isolated beaches are a big paradise for surfers. Surfboards can be rented in town and surf lessons for beginners can be booked.
