Rhodes is not only the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, but also rich in history, nightlife and above all wind! It offers both long sandy beaches and small hidden coves. One of the most popular spots is Prassonissi , where the wind constantly blows from April to October. The beach is almost uninhabited, only a few clubs, but its wild charm and the sails and the boards that can be seen from afar is exciting. The place is perfect both for beginners and experts. Another must-see spots in Rhodes is Kremasti , a lively location that also not only offers beaches and wind but also social life. The island is famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, a huge 32-meter statue that maybe has been destroyed in 226 BC by an earthquake. Rhodes has been the location of some thriller films of the famous Aghata Christie, one of these is “four cases for Hercule Poirot”, which made the Greek island famous. A holiday in Rhodes is also history and culture, with the both classical and medieval old town, thanks to the Knights of St. John who lived in the island for almost centuries, who built the Hospital in the 15th century and the wonderful fortress of the knights, which today represents the Grand Master’s Palace. Near Rhodes there are other important sites, such as the monastery of Filerimos, the Baths of Calithea and the Acropolis of Lindos, which is on a steep rock 116 meters height overlooking the sea.
